Hockey Night In Canada Anthem Challenge

“An Anthem for a Night of Hockey”

So, when the CBC lost the rights to use the Hockey Night in Canada theme it sparked such controversy that everyone (in Canada) was talking about it. What had been a staple in the lives of many Canadians on Saturday night was now gone. Off to another network for use in their hockey program.

To try to bring back public support and raise the morale of the hockey viewing public, the CBC decided that it would open a contest to all Canadian citizens to write the next great theme for ‘Hockey Night in Canada’. Hundreds of thousands of entries were submitted, but in the end there could only be one.

The opportunity to write the next HNIC Theme was too good to pass up.

Overall this was a fun contest to be a part of, and I’m extremely happy with the outcome of my composition. I felt it captured enough of the original feel yet brought something new and modern to the table.

At least now I have a sports theme styled song to use in my portfolio.
